Product Designer (Industrial Designer)

NOTE: This job opportunity is for designing physical products, and NOT digital products. 

Job Brief:

We are a top-end reputed stationery manufacturing company in India, and we are looking for an Industrial Designer (potentially Managerial level) to design our products.

The role requires hands-on work, but will also involve managerial responsibilities, with a good chance of growth for the right person.

We need good communication skills, good ability to design, and of course – a passion for stationery and consumer products.

The responsibilities of the job include creating innovative product concepts, defining product specifications, sketching, rendering and designing fully-functional products. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have an eye for styling and be well-versed in innovation and research, being able to translate market requirements into practical product features and packaging for the same.

CTC: Rs 15-16 Lac Per Annum (LPA) for a suitable candidate

Key Skills:

  • Flair for styling and innovation
  • Hands-on experience with CAD and product rendering (Must-have: Solidworks
  • Experience with 2D design software (like Illustrator and Sketch)
  • Leadership, Time-management and team-building skills
  • Good fluency in Solidworks
  • High level of interest & enthusiasm about consumer & stationery products
  • Good Communication and Adaptability

Your Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for new products
  • Analyze how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
  • Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
  • Understand the consumers’ needs & translate the same into design requirements
  • Research materials and techniques
  • Sketch drafts on paper or digitally (for example, using CAD)
  • Use 3D modeling software to design products and components
  • Produce prototypes and test functionality
  • Responsible for development of product & packaging from concept to
  • Improve the design of existing products
  • Gather feedback from product users
  • Interact with internal & external partners

Mandatory Requirements

1. A formal degree in industrial design, and requisite training in sketching, conceptualisation, rendering, styling and innovation.

2. A minimum five years of experience in product design and development, with a good working knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
